When Lidl set out to open its first full-scale supermarket inside Queens Place Mall, the project required more than just construction expertise—it demanded agility, creativity, and seamless collaboration. CM&B transformed the former DSW shoe store into a 35,000-square-foot grocery destination, navigating low ceilings and tight urban constraints to integrate complex refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical systems.

From early planning to final execution, our team worked hand-in-hand with Lidl leadership and designers to ensure a smooth, efficient, and high-quality build. Opening day was the culmination of months of coordination and problem-solving—an achievement that truly reflects what People.Building. is all about.

Full interior demolition of the former DSW store to prepare the space for a grocery fit-out.

Installation of grocery-specific systems including refrigeration, freezer cases, and bakery ovens.

Creation of new loading, storage, and back-of-house logistics areas to support daily operations.

Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing upgrades designed for high-demand food operations.

Early collaborative planning to identify risks, cost drivers, and long-lead items, reducing surprises and delays.

Integration of higher floor load capacity, enhanced ventilation, and robust power/refrigeration infrastructure to meet grocery-specific requirements.
